Art Group Kuril Chto
Biography

Andrey Zaytsev was born in 1989 in St. Petersburg.
He holds a degree in law majoring in forensic science.
For a long time Andrey worked as head of the department of economic security at a large industrial company.
In 2012 he founded the private Street Art Museum in St. Petersburg — a center of contemporary art and culture; for 7 years he held the positions of head and chief curator of this museum.
At the same time, in 2013, he created the group Kuril Chto.
Since 2019 the artist has been living and working in Lisbon.

Tatyana Pinchuk was born in 1989 in Karelia, since 2006 she has been living and working in St. Petersburg.
She holds a degree in engineering majoring in construction of railway bridges and tunnels.
For 5 years after graduating from the university she worked as head of the commercial department in an information and analysis agency.
In 2015 Tatyana began working as development director at the Street Art Museum and almost immediately joined the creative team of Kuril Chto.

The artists use irony and absurdity in their exploration of the subjects of patriotism, Russian reality, consumerism, memes, and classical painting. The group’s creative work is characterized by their non-serious and sometimes even mocking attitude towards serious subjects, as well as by attention directed at mundanity. The artists use the following media: graphics, painting, objects, digital memes, and urban interventions.
In 2018 the group was nominated for the Sergey Kuryokhin Contemporary Art Award in the category Art in the Public Space.
